rade 0 (Kindergarten) - focuses on use of the mouse - clicking, clicking and dragging, using drawing tools, using the keyboard (space bar, shift and return keys), and beginning Internet skills (learning how to use a link).

Create a booklet showing different concepts learned in kindergarten:

rade 1 - focuses on word processing - centering and left justified, correct spacing, scrolling, changing font size, building Internet skills, searching for graphics

• Various small projects focusing on typing sentences correctly and including pictures we took or drew or found on the Internet or found in clip art

• Literature based projects - we will read a book and do a project based on what we have read, such as "Taking a Bath with the Dog and other things that make me Happy."

2 - focuses on word processing - centering and left justified, correct spacing, scrolling, placing graphics, choosing fonts, more Internet skills, introduction to a spreadsheet, and a presentation or slide show, beginning keyboarding skills using Type to Learn 4.

• Game Book (games created in Gym class with Mrs. Bressler or Mr. Purinton) using word processing

• One project using word processing and drawing with a theme from the Reading series and one learning to use the Thesaurus

• Spreadsheet project involving measurement with a ruler and including range, mean, median and mode

rade 4 - adds to word processing and Internet skills, learns Internet searches, continues keyboarding skills lessons, more work with spreadsheets, more skills with a presentation

• Keyboarding lessons - continuing with Type to Learn 4

• Writing a friendly letter using word processing; Letter theme will be the Olympics or facts about Pennsylvania
• One spreadsheet project to make a graph and find the mean, median, mode and range of a group of data; perhaps a list of birds found in Pennsylvania or population of counties in PA or census data
• Presentation project working with geometric shapes - quadrilaterals and other plane shapes; digital photography

rade 5 - adds to word processing and Internet skills, learns Internet searches, continues keyboarding skills lessons, more work with spreadsheets, more skills with presentations; digital photography and movie making

•  iMovie and digital photography; theme: Life in Colonial Times

• A Graph about Olympic data or other sports data that includes working on the mean, median, mode and range; deviation from the mean

•  Presentation: Symmetry project including digital photography and Internet graphics

• A bookmark project at the end of the year that uses word processing; create a bookmark for a certain grade level on a book you have enjoyed reading
